Expected Outcome: Adult
achondroplastics are said to live nomally and are able to do a lot of activities people without the disease can do.
Progression
of the Disease Over Time: Children with achondroplasia grow at a slower rate to a shorter
height. Adults may develop arthritis in later years.
Prevalence in Certain Populations: The number of males and females with achondroplasia are about equal and it affects all races. About 1 in every
40,000 children have this disease.
